In and out, a busy summer in perspective...
At least that's what we are hoping for...
Arsène Wenger quoted in Telefoot a french TV program on sunday, admittef that for once he would be busy in the summer after years of overlooking, so what does it mean? What should we expect coming down from London Colney?
Outs:
Many fringe players will be allowed to leave this summer, and following interviews from Denilson and Bendtner who claimed they have asked to leave the club, some other players are expected to follow out, and Wenger won't stand in their way. Though, major players are bidding their time to renew contract such as Nasri and Clichy and Fabregas is still keen on going back home. For those players Wenger will try once again to convice them to stay put for at least one more year and keep the faith in the youth project.
Here is a list of players who could be gone this summer and their potential destinations:
Fabregas: For two years now Barcelona have been really keen on bringing back home our skipper we snatch from them when he was only 16 years old and turned him into the player he is now. Fabregas would'nt be bothered to go there and actually pushed for a move last year, though the club has been ruthless and rebuffed Barça's approach judging their bid (around 35M pounds) too low at the time.
This year again same old song and City, Both Milano clubs and Madrid ha ve approached the club, but Cesc woulmd only leave the club for his Barcelona, so Arsenal use these teams to raise his price tag, but Barça want to buy him on the cheap, so this summer could be pivotal in his career.
Value: 35-50M £ likely destination : Barça
Clichy: With only one year left in his contract Gael Clichy is at crossroads will he stay at Arsenal or opt for a new challenge? I wouldn't mind selling him if we replaced him with a better player...
Value: 10M € likely destination: Italy (Juve, Inter?)
Nasri: Same case as Clichy yet he would be harder to replace with someone of his quality if not better.
Value: 15 M£ likely destination: Italy, Spain, Bayern
Both Nasri and Clichy have been offered new contracts and have affirmed wanting to stay but i assume they are waiting to see Arsenal's involvement on the transfer market. Wenger however declared that both need to sign or be sold, thus avoiding the Flamini situation .
Denilson, Bendtner, Almunia, Diaby, Rosicky, Eboue and even Arshavin are said to be on the transfer list too and offers for those players would certainly not be rejected.
Ins:
Wenger pointed out our defensive fragilities and we could expect some solid experienced players coming in.
Here are some players we have been linked to recently and that seem like realistic transfer targerts:
Defenders: Gary Cahill (Bolton), Phil Jones and Cris Samba (Blackburn), Mamadou Sakho (PSG)
Midfielders: Scott Parker (West Ham), Blaise Matuidi (Saint Etienne), Moussa Sissoko ( Toulouse)
Wingers: Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Gervinho (Lille)
Strikers: Benzema (Real Madrid), Gameiro (Lorient), Falcao (FC Porto)

RépondreSupprimerDang, nice writing! Long read, but good! :)
RépondreSupprimerArsenal rely too much on younger players. They could use more experienced ones, otherwise they'll take some time to mature. Just look at the match v the mighty Newcastle! 4-0 up and they lost it to 4-4.
